Art 01:16
Why do artists understand the most But are the ones understood least And why do they try to reach out the most But on a plane that no one can reach Why do artists connect so many But feel so disconnected And why do they see the peace in love But push away all they ever meet Have you ever watched at a traffic stop Or seen the sight of the plight of an intersection light While you’re filling your tank with long-dead oil To fuel the silent, endless toil Of the stop and go movement that ain’t much improvement Over the time you spent brooding over an no-love ring, yeah While you spend your time moving what could you be doing Not robotic circles, that’s one sure thing Then I get in the car and join the driving ring While the end is brewing, what are we pursuing? We could be renewing instead we’re undoing Going back and forth across a dead-end street With the silence around us, the world is at our feet To stop or go seems so meaningful But from beyond, your choice seems to be fateful Like watching the president talk but not hearing a sound, Your wheels spin against the ground And from where I stand, they don’t make a sound I pause for a moment and take it all in The resources used to go for a spin The silence seems pointless when the sight looks the same Is there even a chance to win this game? Maybe if I’m reaching on the right plane for once And maybe if I can connect to the many for once For once, I want to see the love in peace And not the violence they hide there that I want to defeat

Bliss 05:07
Despite all the hurt and the tears and the fights, I think I had myself a pretty good night, And I’m holding close, to what I have, and it’s oh so light, and I’m looking up now, past four thousand years, The something I feel, that there is no end, that years Are a sight, not a sound, a byte, not a pound, I’m happy.. I’m free. The pain that exists ain’t gonna take me.. I fight with myself, but no one else, ‘Cause the struggle in the world is the struggle itself, If we all just let go, stopped the wrestle, There was no ending anyway, you silly little primitives! I open up to the stars and the sky, Neither of which are defined in the guide, For define, is relative, and relative, is defined, As a dictionary paradox, all in my mind, And I drop down my weapons of anger and hate, For neither are necessary if love is so great The open night sky, a shooting star, A slight breeze, just right, and it’s all Mine for the seeing, the believing, perfection not so far, The open expanse of trees, so still, The quiet nightlife, what makes my will, To be so peaceful. Here time moves slow, And all I can be is happy. City lights, off in the distance; standing still, taking it all in, It’s all there for you, you are a part of it. This is my life… That pain’s in the past 'cause the past has past, Towards the future we roll, don’t like being last, No together we’re strong, can’t pull us weak, That guide you made up can’t run the meek! You can’t come between my love and me, For this night that I see means can’t you see? That this was my path to the great in the small, Being one myself and becoming the other. If you still feel four thousand years away, And are trying to hold on to what’s decayed From nothing, remember, how many of us exist? And can’t be mean to any, 'cause that mirror will retaliate. You aren’t alone, gotta make your purpose, But interrupt mine and yours you’ll miss, I’m happy and I’m free, The pain that exists ain’t gonna take me. We’re happy, we’re free. Words aren’t enough, solidly we Live what feels right, and this feels right, Happiness should never be less than a right. For me, I feel, it’s you.

Visual perspective, I don’t know if it’s true, The sight I see is made by words I know I can’t see through. I make them up, in my mind, But then they control me.. But see the shift, say the truth, All without speaking. The drama, the rhythm, That’s running through my head, I can’t control but it defines All that will be said. If I feel lost or sad again, For all I must put on a show. Shift your focus play the notes, See through the maze and go, Forward.. It’s a maze that will amaze. Break through the fight Take a look at the light, Go blind to what you know And burn in what you see. Let the feeling build you up, There’s so much more to be. Can you live through the hurt, Can you know what I mean? Unblock the answer you have found, Take a look around, See it with the sound. You feel it? Do you feel it? You’ve been dared to do the impossible You see the dare? Look in the mirror, Its source a rhythm that’s changing you From the former who wasn’t clear. Stare into your eyes, Accept the challenge, Take the path you couldn’t see In the mental imbalance. Although our life’s still a mystery I can tell one thing is true, The change of perspective Brought on by adventure Can save a life in blue. The abyss is everywhere But with these chords I will transcend, Unable to stop the strum that lifts me up. The dare for purpose, the impossible struggle, But I will conquer, I will conquer, today.

Nature 03:43
Not knowing where you stand Not knowing who’s in command The best feeling in the world Is to shut out, focus on this moment Relax, everything is still Time is something of the past All that crowds is crowded out My mind is void and I can see everything The wind and warmth on my back The sun rays shine straight ahead I don’t know who’s what when And I don’t care ‘cause, I’m not dead The flow of life right through me You are there I can see, but I’m alone and at peace 'cause Nothing is everything The sky has no ending Peace and quiet is waiting Among the fields of green A forest so serene Sit and listen to the wind The sound of birds is all I hear As flowers sway and views obey Let all my thoughts and fears, wash away Laying on my back Lookin’ up at the sky My perception is lazy But who cares, so am I Reality is focused, but My mind it will transcend Life is at a stand-still Its meaning too much to comprehend So much motion at once Yeah how can I describe The complexity of nothing This song you must transcribe Lifted up by the air Feeling life everywhere Am I poor, I don’t care That kills humanity anywhere The fractal connection Of all you could mention Is there when you stop And take a look around It’s good to take a break From what you’ve learned to hate For world health we’ve dreamed of Comes not from violence but love …Nothing is everything

Wise Man 05:27
There once was a wise man who grew up sick and poor, But when he got the chance to sing, his tuning note was war. He grew up past the suburbs, in a little subdivision Never had a gourmet meal, but he always had a vision For peace and hope, equality for his home, poorest nation But he always had one roadblock, and we called it starvation So he took to the streets and rallied in his name Said, “I know you won’t believe me but I think I see the way” The powers at be couldn’t keep him at bay But there was still one roadblock, fighting drowned him every day He said, Well apparently we’re all slaves to the corporate mass media, According to the man behind the free speech insignia. I guess that’s what happens, when you throw the towel, not the hat in. They’re free to turn your freedom ‘to a fight for king of the prison But bad or worse, you don’t know me There’s still one thing that you don’t see: Take my money, I’ll survive, I can make it, Keep on running, I won’t waste it. 'Cause I know how to live among strangers, locals, and enemies, When it comes down to it we’ve all the same identity. Keep the flow smooth, make it up until they love you. Then it resolves, where do you think I got this melody? Can’t get it back Can’t live it down The time I regret It’s spinning all around Spin, spin, spinning Don’t see it any more I’m lost, looking for something Don’t you see it at the door Negative to a positive Don’t see it every day It’s not people who need preaching It’s the church that needs us, hey There once was a wise man who grew up sick and poor, But when he got the chance to sing, his tuning note was war.

Travel 03:21
From the night I left the coast There was so much left to see What I knew I needed the most Was you there with me I didn’t know where I was going But I knew what I wanted to find Such a small world I’d been knowing I needed more on my mind From Bismarck to Canberra To Siberia to the Sahara I’d dreamt my childhood away Now entering a new era What you learn from a small world Don’t hold your breath There seemed a bigger picture Without, I’d be a typical death Just like everyone before me I couldn’t live and just be ordinary This world sure needs some change The whole world, not just your visible range I’d seen it and wanted to be there Life wasn’t just about me Since no-one else would do anything I had to try, something Off to live a dream Take it to the extreme To see all that there’s to see I’ve had enough I can’t stand by the side And watch as it all falls apart So much to see, so much to do I have to feel it all Each place in the world is beautiful Just open your mind and believe, to dream with all your heart I’d always dreamt, had the desire to See everything, everywhere, each in its glory I had to know it all live it all There could be no untold story Forget what you know about being lost This is something we all have to see Just how much we can solve If we bring down the barriers we put up It’s all so easy follow me Signposts passing by Nature evolving before my eyes Yet what I’ve seen before Seems free to change by day Difference in culture Gradual but sudden You need to understand This is the life for me

Every Night 04:10
Every night, can’t fall asleep til 2 or 3, just thinking ‘bout you and me, my shameful self and what I could’ve done Don’t want to be, too generic Too messed up, not esoteric Before I didn’t know what this was like But now I know why no-one wants to know I can’t avoid expressing this Just to avoid commonality Every person on the planet knows How much you mean to me Although it was already over, what we had was the best I could’ve ever dreamed of and it could never end You say, that this is how life always works, how this should work, but If this is mutual, I thought it was why does it hurt so bad? You played the game well, my friend, A length of time I cannot comprehend I’ll cross the pass soon, do a dance But you, I won’t forget I see you now, up in the clouds, til 2 or 3, just thinking 'bout what life could be, what that must be like To be able to let go, so fast Maybe I didn’t realize how much weight this would add to me I felt free, I promise you, But what’s a promise worth? I know, I know, I know, I know That this is right, how it should be Did you notice, do you remember that this song’s in the same key? Although I’m used to it now, the streets won’t stop singing, and calling my name, Every night I think of you You say, that this is how life always works, how this should work, but If this is mutual, I know it was why am I more insane than you? We played the game well, my friend, A length of time I cannot comprehend I’ll cross the pass soon, do a dance But you… but you, I won’t forget

Can you take me from this place That’s my only request I need to go away And find a place to rest I know it’s a lot to ask From someone I barely know But there’s something I can’t explain here, A comfort I’ve never known I don’t know who I can trust now But I’m letting you decide Am I worth the pain I’m feeling My last chance before I die And I know I won’t say this But you’re helping me escape I hope I can return the favor Someday ‘Cause no matter what I’ve done I can’t seem to make them happy If they give the world to me I try, but they leave me Tells me what I’m worth So can you take me from this place That’s my only request I need to go away And find a place to rest I know it’s a lot to ask From someone I barely know But there’s something I can’t explain here, A comfort I’ve never known Am I the same person If all who I knew are gone If they left or died or I messed up If I can’t recognize my song I won’t put this burden on you Won’t say this to your face Just want to know if you would care To get to know our place To see what friendship can make '14 loss '15 right So can you take me from this place That’s my only request I need to go away And find a place to rest I know it’s a lot to ask From someone I barely know But there’s something I can’t explain here, A comfort I’ve never known

Ever sit there and wonder ‘bout what life used to mean There’s a blank page you stare at But it’s filled to the seam And it seems that the handwriting, it isn’t yours But you can’t erase, you just have to move forward And you hear all the talk, This man here’s done his best Got the lavish luxurious life Of a prince but times ten And he tells his whole story like we could all understand I say when he looks down… kick him upside the head Someday all his wealth You’ll see, it will be ours Why shouldn’t it be? We’re working just as hard It annoys me to no end that we struggle so It’s not that I hate, I just can’t let go Oh, seven billion people Seventeen-hundred billionaires Oh, seven billion problems And this isn’t helping any of them I just sit back and think What could I do with my time If life didn’t kick while I’m down Is to rest such a crime? I watch from my job as this old house turns to dust So I get up “I quit!”, I won’t let this world rust Oh, seven billion people Seventeen-hundred billionaires Oh, seven billion problems And this isn’t helping any of them There ain’t no point to life When you’re always beat Being rich, How will that help me sleep? It won’t, that’s the point, so I’ll walk or I’ll crawl It seems to me that this world is for us all Not self-gain, that’s when great buildings fall Oh, seven billion people Seventeen-hundred billionaires Oh, seven billion problems And this isn’t helping any of them

Revolution 02:36
A little voice in the nether Speaking out to the crowd Not looking for attention Just looking for a sound That signals the release of Power, hope, and love To accomplish something big Before his time runs out You see, everything is greater When you look inside It’s the start of a revolution Impossible in size If you can’t believe it’s happening Come and look with me Be a witness to the disease That will cure you and me If I could treat the silence With some hope and fame I would start a fire burning with some Gasoline and rage But the crowd will listen tonight To that little voice Who dares to cry for justice You have no choice Be everything you wanted Now is the time Stand up, burst through the roof Like you could never die Feel the crowd build up within you Through that little voice This is it, hear your call, For one and for all Though the change you make is violent The world won’t have to be Remember the inside fight is greater Than shown outwardly The crowd, the voice, the charge, Motivate the peace inside you Make the change start A little voice begin

Conformity 02:33
The man here at the restaurant, he messed up my lunch order But I forgave him sayin’, it’s alright man, at least you’re no pushover It’s common to see a man like me behind the counter sober But inevitably creativity beats the mind of a soldier Life’s just one big mess up and what’s common’s a disorder When you write a song ‘bout coming out, your people will disown ya But your people are my people dressed as people who deplore ya There ain’t no room for labels, and the war of hate is over! One from the sun to the son when he’s older Two from the Father to the daughter 'cause she’s bolder Three you’ll see achieve equality, yeah I told ya, 'cause Conformity can’t hold the mother’s wife any longer Traditionally I couldn’t see you but I’ve become a stoner The wheels of life keep turning, they’re the real transformer But read the deal, the movie reel won’t play any slower This song’s one big absurdity, but it’s almost over What’s the point of work if all you are is a worker I can’t comprehend how this doesn’t make me poorer If change is a constant then why am I a conformer? As people we’ll still progress so change the order for a start

He said, I know you think what you say is true But I’ve been right there, same place as you Can’t win the fight, no point to life No way out, no it doesn’t look bright He said, I know you think you’ve hit a dead end But turn around now, there’s a choice ahead I see now what I didn’t see then I forgive you now, I’ll help you make amends With the strangers around you, crying in pain Don’t take that path, no, it’s not your day It’s your day to help, your day to survive Don’t you see what you want, is to come alive So I took that advice with me down a new path Just straight up and left, no I didn’t look back My spine shook alive, this ain’t insanity I’m on the next connection to humanity I’ve set off looking for human connection The true addiction that we call the medicine Wasn’t finding it here, no it’s not your fault We’ve all got our path and mine’s not the default The strangers around, they sure look like me Told myself too many times, just wait patiently Now I know how wrong I was, see the freedom clause Take off running, screw all the haters ‘cause I know how to live among strangers, locals, and enemies When it comes down to it we’ve all the same identity Keep the flow smooth, make it up, love unconditionally Then it resolves, where do you think I got this melody? Now I’ve found my purpose, found my way What I always thought it was but was afraid to say. I see a stranger lying there, he looks like me I walk up to him, and can’t help but say: I know you think you’ve hit a dead end But turn around now, there’s a choice ahead All that pain you think you caused, a misunderstanding at heart, I forgive you now, I’ll help you make amends With those strangers around, I think you know their name Don’t take that path, no, it’s not your day It’s your day to help, your day to survive Don’t you see what you want, is to come alive Don’t you see what you want, is to come alive

Whitecaps 00:39
I wrote this song on top of a mountain Overlooking a shore We were gonna go sailing But the whitecaps danced and tore Some thoughts tug at the ropes Open the gates, let water drop My biggest strength is sentiment When memories crash against the rocks In the same way, they crashed before Beat me down to my core Wrote the book by fighting til I was sore All the while, life knocked on my door, sayin This is how things are gonna be Turn around, try not to drown, that is the key Avoid the path, instead climb up to see The water you got to tread to be happy

about

Written and recorded between 2014 and 2017, "Alive" is my first solo album. Lyrically, it's about a transition into adulthood - with a bit of rebellion - and I hope it shows that musically too. Mostly though, it's about finding peace. Also, there's a bonus 15th track for those who buy the full album!
