There once was a wise man who grew up sick and poor,
But when he got the chance to sing, his tuning note was war.

He grew up past the suburbs, in a little subdivision
Never had a gourmet meal, but he always had a vision
For peace and hope, equality for his home, poorest nation
But he always had one roadblock, and we called it starvation

So he took to the streets and rallied in his name
Said, “I know you won’t believe me but I think I see the way”
The powers at be couldn’t keep him at bay
But there was still one roadblock, fighting drowned him every day

He said,
Well apparently we’re all slaves to the corporate mass media,
According to the man behind the free speech insignia.
I guess that’s what happens, when you throw the towel, not the hat in.
They’re free to turn your freedom ‘to a fight for king of the prison

But bad or worse, you don’t know me
There’s still one thing that you don’t see:
Take my money, I’ll survive, I can make it,
Keep on running, I won’t waste it.

'Cause I know how to live among strangers, locals, and enemies,
When it comes down to it we’ve all the same identity.
Keep the flow smooth, make it up until they love you.
